The Golf Nebraska campaign included a multilevel public relations campaign designed to inform golfers within the Midwest region and beyond about the high-quality, high-value golfing experiences in Nebraska. The campaign included outreach to national and regional golf media outlets and social media initiatives.

Snitily Carr and the Nebraska Division of Travel and Tourism partnered with four golf clubs (Quarry Oaks, Iron Horse, Wild Horse, and Awarii Dunes) and local CVBs to host a writers’ tour for golf journalists. The tour led to feature articles on WorldGolf.com, which is a golf travel site under the umbrella of the Golf Channel. Midwest Golfing Magazine featured Kearney’s Awarii Dunes Golf Club on the cover of its Fall 2011 issue and included an extensive article about Nebraska golf. GolfTrips.com featured several articles about Nebraska golf courses and the Golf Nebraska campaign.

The Golf Nebraska campaign joined with the Nebraska PGA Section and Nebraska Golf Association to spread the word about the campaign through their newsletters and targeted campaign emails. Both organizations assisted with development of the Golf Nebraska blog.

Five bloggers contributed to GolfNebraskaBlog with posts about courses throughout the state. Bloggers included photos and videos, providing a rich source of content about the variety and value golfers can find in Nebraska. The blog features posts about 20 different courses, including the nine-hole Pelican Beach Golf Club in Hyannis, to the well-known Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg.

Another social media initiative, the GolfNebraska Facebook page, grew to nearly 200 followers in just a few months. The page includes posts about Nebraska courses and golf events, photos of some top courses, and links to articles about golf in Nebraska.
