Web Designer

Job Summary
The Web Designer will conceptualize, create, and lay out designs for dynamic and static websites.

Responsibilities include site mapping, home page and interior page designs, web ad creation, and Flash animation.  Position also requires content formatting and CSS creation as well as QA.

Position does not require web development; however, knowledge in this area is a plus.  Designer will be responsible for the look and feel of sites, including navigation design and visual execution.  Position requires a thorough understanding of the content management systems available and the nuances of designing for each.

The Web Designer position reports to the Director of Design and is based in the Lincoln office.


Job Duties

  • Communicate with and work closely with the client at the design stage to gather applicable background information, e.g., site purpose, target audience, leading competitors, etc.
  • Communicate with and work closely with vendors regarding development languages not covered in-house
  • Collaborate with copywriters to concept new projects.
  • Accurately record time spent on projects.
  • Test projects for quality and functionality.
  • Assist in the development of web applications using ActionScript, Flash, XML, CSS, XHTML, and other languages.
  • Provide technical guidance during product planning and development.



JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education

  • 2- or 4-year degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.


Experience

  • Two or more years of web design experience required.

  • Possess organizational skills.


Specific Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML, and CSS in a Mac or PC environment.
  • Knowledge of PHP and JavaScript is not required but is beneficial.
